Fire Station No.65

City of Los Angeles

Watts, California

gkkworks, in association with Don Dommer Associates, provided architectural design for this new 15,200 SF replacement facility for the existing Station 65 that was built in the 1930’s. The building program includes living and support space for a crew of 17, and apparatus bays to accommodate 3 fire fighting and 3 paramedic vehicles.

The building is a two-story structure with lobby, offices, multipurpose room, conference room, kitchen and dining rooms on the first floor; and dormitory, locker and shower facilities on the second floor.  The program for all new fire stations encourages access and use of the facilities by the local community.  As a result, the first floor conference room is accessible to the public through a lobby area at the front entrance.
