gkkworks provided construction management services to the City of La Quinta for this new construction project, consisting of the 7,700-SF Fire Station No. 32 and Phase I of the corporate yard on a four-acre site. Key features include its LEED component; photovoltaic panels on steel canopies; compressed natural gas station; low-roof reflectance value of 29; low-irrigation desert scape; permeable pavers; low flush urinals and plenty of windows for daylighting. The corporate yard remained fully functional and secured throughout the construction phase, which led to the demolition of several offices and the relocation of personnel. gkkworks was able to create and encompass the Design-Build portions of the photovoltaic system and compressed natural gas systems as an addition to the original contract. Despite the increased scope, including the 22,000-SF addition of landscaping for a retention basin, gkkworks kept the project under budget and on schedule.
