Working with the District to develop a facility master plan incorporating new District-wide MS educational specification into the existing building, the project illustrates our success with designing and implementing "transformation" environments within existing facilities. In doing so, we create environments that change the user experience and exceeding community expectations.
The building is broadly organized into grade level academic communities and arts/wellness areas connected by a main hall. The core classrooms are clustered into three academic houses, each supported by its own grouping of satellite resources and breakout areas. The main hall is anchored with the media center and student commons/cafeteria.
Critical elements incorporated into the design solution include the redevelopment of the west facade, a new courtyard/play court area, and the consolidation of learning communities. A new public entrance created a secure courtyard to be used for informal gathering and outdoor learning programs.
