Located in a rural northeast Colorado, the Prairie PK-12 School embodies the values of respect, responsibility and healthy living. The organization diagram separates the "active" spaces for community and athletic events from those used for "academic" studies. The "connector" is the Media/Technology Center. Classrooms are organized to illustrate progression through grades without separation of the students.
The Commons and Athletic spaces support diversity of community and school-based programs and events. The Multi-purpose Gym doubles as a 325 seat performance hall. The state-of-the-art Science/VoAg Center, located north of the Gym in close proximity to the service areas and future barn facility.
Working with the Architectural Review Committee, the team crafted a design responsive to daylighting principles and a desire to establish permanence with a refined scale. The Prairie PK-12 School received LEED Gold certification.
