gkkworks provided programming and design services for the remodel, renovation and new construction of this AIA award winning project. The facility includes 21,400 SF of physical education/athletic training space and includes a basketball court/gymnasium, dance area, fitness room, staff offices, lockers and showers. The renovation was phased to enable continued use during the renovation. The interior plan was re-configured to create a wide pedestrian concourse on both levels, enabling all programmed spaces easy and clear access. The LEED certified building utilizes Low-e high performance glass and a combined active and passive cooling / heating system, to reduce energy. A Kalwall system of translucent, insulated fiberglass maximizes natural light while maintaining and insulated wall assembly.
