A world business leader TATA/TCS’s new Pune corporate headquarters responds to their mission as a promoter of environmental sensitivity and sustainability. The project includes 800,000 SF of office and support spaces, 200,000 SF of research/development space and 80,000 SF of common spaces including a café/restaurant, an auditorium, library, a gymnasium and visitor apartments.
The plan is inspired by the cultural heritage of India; the circles of the Mondala representing community and connectivity, man woman in the universe, the wheel and the global unity of the circle promote the ideals of the TATA Corporation. Broken into smaller communities each ring with their own varying courtyards is connected by the main public lobby. Water is used as a cooling element and a photovoltaic canopy brings 50% of the required electrical energy and shade to the projects outside spaces. The bronze grillwork exterior sun-shading is reminiscent of the Jali screen used throughout the region.
