The Susan Miller Dorsey High School Redevelopment project is Los Angeles Unified School District’s first design-build project, and consists of a new ninth-grade academy classroom building, a new competition gymnasium, and renovation and refitting of the original gymnasium building.

Garfield Performing Arts Center – Community Engagement

Frederick High School Earns Outstanding Project Spring 2013 Award

gkkworks, has been recognized by LEARNING BY DESIGN for the Outstanding Project Spring 2013 award for Frederick High School in Frederick, Colorado. LEARNING BY DESIGN recently released its Spring 2013 edition which showcases the nation’s best education design and construction projects, from pre-K to 12 to college and university facilities. gkkworks served as the Architect for this project along with Hutton/Cunningham Group as Associate Architect through a hard-bid delivery method with Haselden Construction as the General Contractor.

New Center PK-12 School Certified LEED GOLD

gkkworks, recently received official notification from the U.S. Green Building Council that the new Center PK-12 School, located in Center, Colorado, is now LEED Gold certified. gkkworks served as the Architect under a design-build contract with GE Johnson as the General Contractor, and Hutton/Cuningham Group as the Sustainability Architect.

Proven Success in BEST Program Leads to Design of Legacy Project for Hi-Plains School District

Los Angeles School is Designed for Growth and Sustainability

In an area that has been long overlooked for new facilities, Sally Ride Elementary School is a welcome neighbor. The $33 million school, designed by gkkworks, serves 650 students in grades K-5. With structures totaling over 52,000 square feet, the school also allows for plenty of play area. Situated on a corner, the three-acre site allows for a pocket park complete with benches, shade trees, and a band shelter. Adjacent to this park is the multipurpose room, which is also available to the community.

Campus design sparks student creativity

Los Angeles Unified School District’s First Design-Build Project Reaches Major Milestone

The design-build team, led by Pinner Construction Co. and gkkworks, has received approval from the Division of the State Architect to begin the new construction and renovation phases on the Dorsey High School campus. The $28 million project, which is being designed and constructed to achieve a LEED Silver rating, will be completed in June 2014.
