Arapahoe County On-Call Architectural Services Contract Win

Arapahoe County, Colorado has selected gkkworks, to be included among its list of firms to provide architectural design services for various large projects over $500,000. The team will be on-call to the County for a period of one year, with the option to renew up to three years, providing architectural and technical services for projects varying in size and scope.

Textile Art Galley Addition at Colorado State University Facilitates Institutional Identity

Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado has selected gkkworks, to provide design services for a design and merchandising art gallery addition. This addition is adjacent to the University Center for the Arts, which includes the Colorado State University Art Museum with four discreet galleries for the exhibition of the University's permanent art collections and traveling exhibitions, a historic costume and textile gallery, the University Dance Theatre and dance studios, recital and rehearsal chambers, and classrooms to enable students and members of the community to learn about and benefit from the arts.

Los Angeles Community College District’s West Los Angeles Campus Selects Cumming Construction Management and gkkworks to Handle Their Bond Program Projects


The team of Cumming Construction Management and gkkworks has been approved by the Board of Trustees to provide construction management services for the District's ongoing $414 million facilities construction program at West Los Angeles College in Culver City.

gkkworks Wins Major Kern Community College District Modernization Project at Cerro Coso College


The Kern Community College District has selected gkkworks to modernize the Main Building of Cerro Coso College in Ridgecrest. The building includes three floors of student services and administration offices housed in 35,000 square feet. Counseling, health services, financial aid, and the admission offices are also located within the facility.

Reinvention of the Saddleback College Library


Saddleback College and gkkworks have reinvented the school's aging library building into a new Library and Learning Resource Center, modifying the existing building to demonstrate the college's dedication to education, culture, and a vibrant campus life. The project provides students an example of creating something new and relevant from something old and dilapidated.

gkkworks selected to design University of San Diego’s Betty and Bob Beyster Institute for Nursing Research, Advanced Practice, and Simulation


gkkworks, in association with The S/L/A/M Collaborative, has been selected by the University of San Diego to design the Betty and Bob Beyster Institute for Nursing Research, Advanced Practice, and Simulation. Construction budget for the Institute is $11.7 million, with the Beyster family of La Jolla recently donating $7 million to initiate development. The three-story, 27,000 SF, LEED® Gold building will enable innovative clinical nursing research and the preparation of nurse scientists, and provide a premier Simulation and Standardized Patient Nursing Laboratory to prepare advanced practice registered nurses. The first institute of its kind in the country, the Institute will specialize in research on the health of women and children, the elderly, veterans, and hospice and palliative care patients.

Gym undergoes major renovation while retaining historic context


Home to Riverside City College's Tigers for nearly 100 years, the Wheelock Gymnasium was built in the 1920s, with the most recent renovation occurring in the 1960s. The structure no longer met seismic safety codes, and the project was undertaken "to ensure this historically important building is around for another 80-plus years of service to the college and community," stated Michael Stephens, AIA, Capital Program Administrator for Riverside Community College District.

gkkworks Helps Meet State’s Need for First Responder Training


Victor Valley College's new Eastside Public Safety and Training Center (EPSTC) is now open. There are only two other regional training facilities in California that include the full range of capabilities and technologies incorporated into the EPSTC. The vision for the facility is that it will be the main regional hub for public safety training programs, providing students, employers, and the community with training and education programs that meet current and future public safety needs.

IRVINE, California, February 28 - Showcasing one of the top nursing programs in the state, Riverside City College (RCC) welcomed students and the public at a dedication ceremony for its new state-of-the-art facility on February 9.
