Maria has more than 25 years of experience and specializes in all phases of planning, design and construction of cultural and institutional facilities. Maria is deeply committed to contributing to the cultural development of Denver and has served on the Mayor’s Commission of Cultural Affairs and as chair for the City and County of Denver’s 1% for art program and is currently on the board of the Colorado Creative Industries Committee. Ms. Cole has received multiple design awards, including in part the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in Fine Arts, Banff Centre residency, and the Hobie Wagener Traveling Scholarship.  She was named the American Institute of Architects Western Mountain Region “Young Architect of the Year” in 2003 and AIA Denver’s “Young Architect of the Year” in 2002. Ms. Cole has served as an honorarium instructor at the University of Colorado with focusing on the essence of the Rocky Mountain Region and the phenomenology. Maria also recently received a gubernatorial appointment to the Colorado Creative Industries Committee, a division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade.
